Greetings from snowy massachusetts! Im totally new at metal detecting.Ive always wanted to metal detect and last year for my birthday I got a whites coinmaster. I really dont know how to use it besides turn it on and listen for the beeps! But I want to learn and I know that it takes time and practice. Can anyone suggest a book that might help?? There are so many I just dont know which one would be best. Thanks so much, Alyssa

banners at the top of the forum are from some of those makers, also Ed on this forum is sharp as a tac and knows his Machines, he's a good guy and wrote a book or two about detecting, real nice helpful guy, just look down the page for Ed, he's the only Ed here :clapping:

Go to this link. http://whiteselectronics.com Click on the products link and then click on the accessories tab. You will see a section called books, click on that and Ed's book is the first one listed.

You also should be able to contact the dealer you purchased your detector from for tips on how to use the Coinmaster. You also can simply take some coins and some pull tabs and bottle caps and drop them in your yard and "detect" them. Then listen to the sounds and look at the display on the detector to get an idea of what sounds and readouts that each item makes. It takes some getting used to but after a while you will be posting some sweet finds with that new detector. Welcome to the hobby it is a fun one for sure.
