Can someone who is experienced with Explorers AND GPX machines tell me...

Would a GPX machine do better finding relics in high minerals or iron? Better depth?

Well, a GPX blows an Explorer away for depth, but are you prepared to dig everything, good and bad, to get that depth?

n/t

Not really. The GPX has a shallow ferrous discriminator (does not work on deep stuff) that is fairly unreliable. Some people get pretty good with it. The tones can tell you a lot also. But anyone coming from a VLF had better think in terms of digging lots of junk. Thinking otherwise is going to lead to disappointment. If it works out better than that great but if not at least I will have not led you astray.
