can the xs pick up nuggets

in july i am going to wyreka cal. and i wonder how well it would work on nuggets and if so what would be the best settings <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?">
 
It can but there are other considerations for a detector used for gold nuggets. A single frequency in the 60KHZ range with ground tracking might be better for that purpose. However, we can use our Explorer but they are not as effective and are really not designed for that purpose.
Use IM-16 for gold nuggets so there is no discrimination of tiny nuggets grains, use Manual Sensitivity if you can, and cut the sensitivity down as nuggets are not deep in the soil, somewhere around 16 for sensitivity, turn deep and fast off, and I would set the Audio Gain to 6 or higher so the audio is not modulated on a tiny grain and I would use Conductive sounds or Constant as you might dig all targets. Gold is going to have a narrow sound and be detected only when under the coil while iron is going to be detected outside the edges of the coil and under the coil. Large wide sounds are not gold nuggets but if you find one that large you are going to be very rich very quick.
