:canadaflag:How to find new digging spots

Leslie(nova scotia)

From the land of the Bluenose......most folks think that research is the key to finding new spots. Used to do it that way hitting the local library and archives only to find a promising spot....that is developed or under concrete.

Found that the best way is word of mouth and that can be done by anyway who...............is willing to listen. Visit a nursing home, hospital or just sit down and talk to the older members in the community. Doesn't cost you anything and you will be amazed at what you learn besides the fact that this forgotten generation lived through some historical times, did the dew and have no one to tell. Go out and make a friend for someday some young digger............ may ask you!

It's funny how we keep quiet about the crown jewels of success. I guess we like to protect those sites that we've found to be real productive. While I won't let on to my favourite spots, when I was in Sydney, most of the productive sites that I hit were targeted because I was looking at the sites that had folks gathered in them for specific reasons. Using that reason, I was able to get onto the web and find the details of the spots. The most productive one came from a news story on the radio. I also drove past another, which had a sign up. I didn't get time to hunt it, but it could have produced another significant amount if I had.
There are certain special interest magazines in the newsagents (I don't know what you'd call these shops in the States) that will put you onto some very juicy spots. I'll leave it up to yourselves to figure out which mags they might be. If you look, you may well have a few light bulb moments.
Mick Evans.
