Canadian coin

I don't understand. I found a 1925 Canadian nickel. It is in xF condition. Book value is between $50 an $150. Took it to a coin shop to possibly sell. Guess what they offered me?? 25 cents
Granted It's the excitement of the finds but is everyone out for profit. This is very disappointing.

Possibly they were out for BIGGER profit than you. They might have figured you had no clue as to the value and were taking a shot at getting it for nothing.
You didn't say if you found it in the ground or not. Coin collectors and dealers tend to be "purists" and look down on something that came from the ground.

Along with being a dug coin, you have to remember the coin dealer will have to sell the coin to make any profit from it. If you're in the US, he may not have much demand for Canadian coins, so he gave you a lowball offer. You would probably do better on Ebay.

That's a nice find and a scarce date. You may want to take it to a local coin show and talk with a dealer who specializes in Canadian coins. Be sure he tells you the good points and bad points about the coin and what he might pay for the coin. If the coin is discolored from being in the ground or has been cleaned, that might knock the value way down. Good luck and HH.

Ive found most dealers arent that interested in Canadian coins. Ebays a good idea you reach a larger group of buyers. Like ive said before there are investors and collectors. The investors get too darn wrapped up in every tiny detail of what we thing is one great coin. Ive seen some really trashy coins on Ebay selling well, so yours should do well.
