I found my first gold ring with a CoinStrike. It was on a large safety pin with another, gold plated ring with it. My iron settings disc'ed out the safety pin, and the rings were masked by my too slow sweep speeds, but I knew where I was hunting had to have something good, so I kept sweeping the same little area over and over until suddenly, up came some positive numbers. And I got two rings, one 10k and one gold plate.

I had a CZ7aPro several years ago. As I recall the C$ and the CZ have about the same depth, but I didn't have them side by side to compare. Is your soil mild or mineralized. Jabbo

Im not sure on the soil Jabbo is there any way of finding this out? I live in northern Maine up in Presque isle i wonder if there is a gealogical site too check?

Click on SEARCH (see above) and type in Coinstrike, All Dates, etc. You will get plenty of info from C$ users, past and present. C$ has a salt mode too, SO or SI (looks like 5O and 5I) will show as you scroll thru the menu. (Salt Out, Salt In). And NO means Notch Out.

Sas, the C$ has a hidden icon on the screen. You will notice an empty spot in the screen in the bottom center. The GoldStrike shows the icon at all times, but not the C$. However, you can display the icon by holding down the NIGHT LIGHT button first and then pressing the AUTO GROUND BUTTON. The icon will display while these two buttons are held down. From what I heard on this forum the icon measures the soil minerals. The manual does not say anything about it, but check the GoldStrike manual, it might tell you what it is for and how to use it. I don't use it, my soil is quite mild. Jabbo

I just checked the hidden icon with both my CoinStrikes. I held the 8" coils close to the cellar concrete floor and did the test on each detector. One detector gave a reading of minus 6, the other detector gave a reading of minus 70. They are not close on the readings. But I think(?) when soil conditions change the icon numbers will change, letting you know the soil minerals have gotten more severe or less severe. I'm not sure if this icon is helpful in any way for the C$, but it has its purpose on the GoldStrike for manual ground balance setting, the C$ does not have manual ground balance. Jabbo

Sas, from what I heard the GROUND icon is for the GoldStrike. But the C$ and the GoldStrike use the same mother board with minor changes so Fisher left the GROUND circuit in the C$ but is not shown. I tried it a few times and the numbers change when I move from one area to another, but I don't know what the numbers are saying.
