Carbon fiber threads for coils

wyndham

New member
It's spring, feels good not to have cold dark days greeting me for awhile. Anyway, I have been searching some of the properties of carbon fibers. I have found they can be conductive and a current can be induced into them.
Could there be any benefit to making a coil from carbon fiber threads?
They would need a coating/insulator. Would carbon give different or better performance than copper?
Hope all are doing well and finding tons of goodies, Wyndham
PS, I like the spell check, it just found I misspelled my own name, oh well

Well I see that 89 people read my post. I guess I just come up with some of the $#$!@$#! off the wall stuff around. That's ok and it's ok to tell me I'm out of my mind on this stuff, But.... how about it. Is there a reason or idea that makes it nonsense. Would it be a heat problem? I just thought that the mass of carbon would be less than copper and maybe allow quicker maybe cleaner pulses. Later Wyndham
