Catastrophe!!!

The worst thing that has happened to me in about 8-10 months happened today. I arrived at my site of choice and found that I had left my Pro-Pointer home! Sorry if I scared you.

Anyhow. I ended up finding 103 coins in 2 hours at an old park. I went there last Sunday but didn't post it. I found that I can still hunt without the Pro-Pointer but I strongly prefer to use it.

Here is my neat find from today. The pic is of a small leather purse. In the purse was the round rock with what I think is an ink drawing of a bear. The other side of the rock has black marks on it too but I think it if from being in contact with the nickel. The bear is standing with his legs close together with is snout facing right and pointed up in the air a bit. Also in the purse was a buffalo nickel, 1930. I think it's probably an old souvenir of some sort. Opinions requested. Also found the two wheats and 99 clad coins including one stack of about 20 pennies.

Believe it or not, that is my first ever buffalo nickel with my 2500. I found some with my 250 and with my Bounty Hunter over the years, though.

Hopefully rain tomorrow to soften up the ground and then I'm going to hunt all weekend for a change. Bwahahahahahaahahahah!

That's a really good looking Buffalo nickel!! WTG cwilk

It looks too me like an old medicine pouch. I also dug one up about 10 years ago. Inside mine were many precious stones and a ring. Of course the detector (GTA 500) read the ring. That's a very good find, and a rare one too.

Here's a link to what a medicine pouch is along with some history. Again, that's a fine find! Congratulations

very nice finds Chris  some times the most memorable finds are not what we find but how we find them :detecting:

Wow, that is a neat find!:clapping:Good hunt all around.:thumbup:Yeah, I hate when I forget my Propointer.:angry:Happy Hunting!:)

I love my Pro Pointer too, but if leaving it at home is the worst thing that's happened to you in the last 8-10 months than you've been living a charmed life!

Seriously though, nice finds. Looks like the pouch helped protect the Buff from the usual effect the ground has on nickels.

Great finds!!! That's the beauty with having the SunRay pinpointer, its attached to the machine and you never forget it...

That was a bit of a joke. Look how many more people clicked on the post with a header that suggested doom and gloom. Lot's of worse things in past 8-10 months.

It took me a while to go back to my non-Pro Pointer days but I still managed a lot of cld coins.
