Charge of the xp deus

I have a portable charger that I wanted to use on the xp deus. When I plugged in the coil only the light on the coil would come on then in a few minutes start blinking. So I used it at the parks we went to and hunted. When I got home I plugged in all three, the headphones, control box and the coil and it is charging.
So do I have to charge all three at once when I want to charge the coil only ?

but I think you need to use the three connector wire for charging.
