Hiked through miles of hell and waded through poison ivy up to my waist to find one of these but came up short. Decided to call it quits due to exhaustion and heat stroke.
Then on the drive out I saw where two stone walls came together and figured all that stonework must have taken some time; perhaps somebody dropped something. Sure enough. Right next to the road.Go figure.
Was just using the stock coil today, but any coil or detector probably would have found the largie. I don't think it was more than 2 inches deep. The Vaquero also sniffed out a dandy button with no shank, another early flat button and a fired musket ball.
