Choosing a knife type digger for the park.

Hi. I need help in choosing a digging device for park work. Any comments would be gratefully received. I have been looking at the Lesche Predator model 85 B. Any advice? I have read some poor reports about the Minelab digger and the Gator series of diggers.Your experience with any or all of the mentioned would be a great help.

Leshe all the way . My minelab digger bent to pieces. My lesche will pry pry a tree out of the ground I believe. North georgia relics is about the cheapest on them also.

Thanks for the fast replies and good advice. I will get onto the 2 sites mentioned. many thanks.

If they charge you shipping in there web site then go to there ebay store as they ship free from there. Although if you want a true Leshe made by the man himself you will have to go to

Food For Thought: There are many city, county, and state parks (not to mention schools) that do not allow knife type diggers. Therefore I would reccomend the Wilcox Pro 100 digger. It's strong, lite, small, easy to use, and the cost is very reasonable. Most metal detector pro shops have this digger in stock. Wilcox Diggers

This is what makes this site one of the best. The number of people who are willing to help is reassuring of society today. I am in Oz so the shipping will be more expensive anyway. There are not too many restrictions that I know of in Oz for park digging providing that you do the right thing.

thankyou to all who offered their help.

I use a tool that is designed for trapping. Its called a trappers trowel 18" long handel. With a spade that's 2 1/2 inches wide and about 4 inches long. They have two type handels one is a regular wooden handel 18". And the other is a D handel 18". This is the strongest and easest digging tool I have used. U can find them on ebay or at any trapping supply web site. They are very resonably priced too.

Thanks to all who responded to my querie. I have now placed an order for one of George Lesche's tools. It should arrive in a week or two.
