Cibola Hyper modded

Hi Folks,
Got a second hand CIbola (no lifetime warranty here in Europe) and have megamodded it!

1) Added manual ground balance (10 turns pot)
2) All metal/discr. switch added in front of control box;
3) Freq switch moved to left upper side of control box;
4) Added discrimination 2 pot;
5) Added discr.1/discrm.2 switch under control box;
6) Added 6 AA battery holder on tail;

A relly hard work!!! Too many wires, pots in a so small place...

I had to remove (cut it away) PP3 battery holder to fit discr. pot and Freq. switch up there. Not a real problem because I wanted to change power system too...







WIRES HURRICANE!!!!



With this mod You can do whatever You want. Search in all metal and switch to Discr.1 or discr.2 or search in discr. 1 and confirm with disc.2.

As an aside, If I add a second disc to my Cibola, I think I'd put the 1st / 2nd / all metal select on one 3 position toggle switch in reach of my index figure, like a trigger. More like the Tejon is; except the all metal would lock in position and not just be a momentary contact. Would then leave the frequency switch where it is.

Yes, it should be nice, but They do not share same schematics. I mean, I had to bring nine wires in the trigger to get a discr1/discr2 function: three wires from the mobo to the two sides discr1 and discr2. I do not think that Tejon works in the same way, different schematics, I suppose, and not so many wires.

..and I forgot to mention that I use all metal only for GB, and for search in tight places.

Have only pulled the cover on the Tejon to blow some contact cleaner on the first disc pot as it was getting intermittent; but I think the wiring is similar for the dual disc on the Tejon as it would be for a mod on the Cibola.

I use the pinpoint so much for sizing and tracing in the trash areas, that I like it on a momentary contact. But for finding very small targets in a dug pile, I like it locked so I can wave a fist of dirt in front of the coil while in all metal. I probably won't add a second disc to the Cibola unless I pick up another Cibola to play with.

You sure have a nice set up going.
