I found this the other day at one of my favorite CW sites--along a dirt road adjacent to some burned down properties. In looking at several other forums, a similar item was described as part of a uniform--possibly a Union Officer. It looks more like an accessory item for women's clothing. Any suggestions?

Sorta looks like those bra strap holder---the one hand kind.

Looks like a suspenders buckle. A common find around old farms but still fun to find. Some are really ornate. Congrats on a nice find.
