I hit some totters and sports fields early Sat and Sun just to warm up and get in the groove...I figured I'd show all of the junk as well, just for a change. I generally leave the pencil ends, zippers and pulltabs in the totlots and even a few pennys for "tells" and reference points for when I come through again. They let you know right quick if some other detectorist worked it. I doubt I have an hour hunting both days combined, which just goes to show the speed at with which one can sweep a lot clean with an F70, and how it can be a profitable endeavor to be a cladhopper.

Wow I'm just not used to getting that many finds in a session! Do you ever hunt old battle site Mud? There must be quite a few stateside?

Contrary to popular belief, there is a strategy and skill involved in totlottin effectively...a fellow just don't wade in there all willy-nilly without a plan and a pattern, a fellow must discover very quickly where the drop zones are, as well as sweep as much of the main open areas too...that's where the speed and lightness of the Fishers really shine, a guy can crouch and swing a fast 10"swath, a person will know pretty much whether this ones been recently cleaned out, or is something that needs some dedication to hunt...if it fells clean, at least try to find how well its been cleaned, and how close to the iron the other person could get, then get out and go on to another...its fun and relaxing, and the Fseries will not miss small gold signals in this environment.

Love clad hopping.

Last week I did a 12x30ft section of an alley between two outfield fences at a little league field. Pulled 26 quarters & 13ish dimes in one hour.

I was jacked. Can't wait to go back and hit the rest of that alley

Every where we hunt theres always the Primary "lane" whether its the beach or parks or sledding hills...finding that lane is fun, cleaning it out quickly then looking for the secondary or tertiary zones really give a fellow a sense of the place and an understanding of just what kind of people hang out here based upon what they leave behind. Its even fun zooming in on a park in a different town via satellite, and seeing if a guy can locate the lane with this method...I look for rich people parks by the amount of backyard swimming pools and the size of the houses and lots I can see from the satellite image in the neighborhood. Some of the parks in older poorer neighborhoods are great too since they don't get hunted as often, just sometimes a bit dangerous. On those big soccer sports fields, they rotate the playing areas every few years and a guy can find a lane going right down the middle of the field sometimes that used to be the sidelines a few years ago..lots of fun figuring out a field, how the dirt changes, where the fill has been added etc.

It also helps to know your spots history having lived it. Where kids congregated for a smoke away from prying eyes, bleachers used to be, parents stood, etc....(without giving away my logistics).

Interesting story Mud, we must search completely different types of areas, I would love to search some parks and sports grounds but it is too much of a risk for me here. Luckily I have my friend the farmer, so all my searching is done in huge agricultural fields (which I love) but rarely turns up any modern coinage, still I'm not complaining just interested in the difference between our finds and the amount of finds.
Weather permitting tomorrow I should get in 4 hours, I'll post all the finds tomorrow night, just as a little comparison, just for the craic!

Tot lots are the first place I het. Mudd is right, there is certain spots that produce all the time. There is a lot of folks out there right now. I was catching guys going out at 4pm to get a jump on the guys in the am. That is a average hunt for the F75 and what you didn't see was the tiny lil pieces of iron junk jewelry that you dig through wood chips to get. Very good hunt for sure.
