The Classic 1 Wader finds the goods again.
converting a land detector to a water detector was a fun project.

Nice finds. And it's just the start of a string of many more finds i'm sure. I can't remember. Are uoy using a standard 950 concentric or something else?

I am using the 8 inch coil .LOOK At the post on the detector and you will see it.The White's classic 1 use the 8 inch coil.

Your coil looks like it would trap a lot of air in it. Does that not cause you to work harder in order to keep it under the water? Does it not want to pop to the top of the surface if you relax you arm? Why don't you drill some big holes in your arm, I mean coil, to let the water in?
And stop YELLING at me. <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":("> I have feelings too ya know.

I'm sorry about yelling (I forgot caps are for (yelling)This is my first water mod. the next detector will use a flat coil. Yes the coil wants to be a ship.I just don't go into the very deep 3 to 4 foot <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> max.

Okay. I forgive you. I was just kidding about the drilling. I thought you were mad at me for not looking for your original picture. Ha Ha. This is how some wars start sometimes.
I was going to tell you to place some lead on the coil but, Duh!
Hmmm. Is there such a thing as heavy plastic? Something that won't destroy the coil... Maybe a glass brick? <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?"> <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?"> <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?">

...Just fill one up with enough sand to equalize the boyancy and zip tie it to the lower rod! Works great! <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

It is all in fun.Lets swing low and dig deep.
Now that I made My test unit I will do better on my next detector.I may do a classic 3 with a 950 coil.
Or will the 950 work with the classic 1 ? <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:"> <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:"> <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:">

Thanks for input <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

YEA MARTY! <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:"> Finally. Justification for buying a computer.

There was a description of how to modify a land detector to work in fresh water, basically it recommended mounting the main box on a styrofoam float, extending and waterproofing the cable and weighting the coil with a sock full of sand!
Happy huntin'!

...but I don't think the newer 950 will! They were the coils that fit the older blue box Whites. Check with White's to see if they still have some of the old ones available!
Happy huntin'!
