On the travel channel i was watching a VERY good looking lady dig
relics in Sc After they were done they cleaned up some old civil
war buttons with what lkooked liekd toothpaste..

Any idea if it WAS toothpaste.. i hope so i already HAVE
some of that .... :lmfao:

Tooth paste works on many things as it has a slight abrasive in it. Pick up a can of Eagle One Never dull. Works great on many things.

I also use a fine brass brush but only on coins that are not worth anything,, it does not seem to mark anything as yet

Some things are better off left uncleaned. Valuable coins, some desirable relics. etc. are better washed in water and mild soap then left alone.

"Know before you scrub," might be the cleanists motto.

Words of wisdom from dahut.:thumbup:I learned that the hard way. In my younger years I ruined some nice valuable old coins(by cleaning them) that I found detecting. :rage: Oh well, live and learn.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)
