that neither of us expected! My brother gets up before me and early and since I get my deep sleep mostly in the early mornings, I don't get up until 10:00 am or after! See that is why I don't get much done, as the day is already half gone!
Well, this morning I woke up a little after eight and stayed up (although sick with another headache, dizziness and stomach problems) because I have to take my car to get an oil change and new brake pads, I think! Also, will be needing CD joints and I think they have started clicking now but Cliff being hard of hearing couldn't hear them! Soooooo, to get back to our blessings, there was a knock on the door and Cliff answered it, as I wasn't up yet! Lo and behold there stood a young soldier asking if a Jason lived here! Well, Cliff said no and didn't ask him in because of my not being up.....so he was outside sitting with his army bags and making a phone call! When Cliff told me about him and said he was still outside, I said well invite him in out of the cold and although I was still in my night clothes and robe, I apoligized about just getting up and offered him a cup of coffee and something to eat! His name is John Garcia and is from Las Cruces, New Mexico! A very, very nice young man who is quite, soft spoken and a little nervous and embarassed!
He drink a cup of coffee but wouldn't eat anything! He had slept outside after knocking on the door about 2:00am since no one answered! My doorbell doesn't work because of the electric not working in part of the house as Cliff blew out a Circuit Breaker when trying to fix an electric switch without shutting off the electric! (We old folks forget easily and that's why it is so dangerous for us to live alone) I've never called in an electrician as yet......wanted to wait until we have the inside half way together and decent and also don't know what it will cost, so I am a put offer!!!!
We asked him a few questions about his family and he has 3 sisters, one older than him, two younger and one younger brother! They mostly live in and near Dallas, TX. He's a good looking young man and very kind and polite....kept saying Yes, MA'AM!
Since I don't drive downtown and too dizzy today to drive all that way into the city and Cliff doesn't have ins, he called a cab and finally got Laclede Cab in South County (where we live) to come and take him to the Grey Hound Bus lines on 13th St.
He was waiting outside for the cab, but it was rather cool and Cliff said he needed to stay inside until it came! Well, he did finally get cold from the cool air and dampness and came in and sat in a big chair I have in the Living Room! We offered him more food, coffee and even fresh juice Cliff was making, but he said his stomach was upset and couldn't and neither could I because of my stomach hurting! The cab finally came and he took his bags that were sitting in front of the garage door and behind my Toyota in the driveway and was putting them in the cab as well as the cab diriver! We said God Bless and God go with you and they both said thanks and grinned! Well, I tell you, I don't know how this came about.................by God or by coincidence, as his friends dropped him off in front of our house where his brother was supposed to be! He slept outside from 2:00am until this early morning, as we couldn't hear his knock because of my Oxy Concentrator running and Cliff's too! Hard to hear anything with those noisy things going! I told him that I was sorry he had to sleep outside but he said he was used to it and smiled.....he has beautiful white teeth and very straight ones! I choose to think God did this for him and for our sakes! As I got to have a soldier visit our home, though it is still a big mess, and tell him we sure appreciated him serving in the army and protecting us!
Well, what do you think of my looooong story? Ma Betty just never can write short ones!
I am still blessed and feel it from head to toe!
I will be praying for him to stay healthy and safe as well as all our military men and women! God Bless them all for what they do for our nation and us!
Now most people would say we were taking a chance by inviting a stranger in.....but I felt in my spirit there was no danger from him and I am blessed for helping one of our soldiers!
God Bless!
