Close to pulling the trigger!

I've been wanting to buy a Deus for a while now, and I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger! Getting a better than expected tax return back this year, plus I talked my wife into giving me the green light, so all is good! I have to sell my f70 and ETP first before I can purchase one, so hopefully I can get that done quickly.

I started out thinking about the starter package, but a few guys in my MD club talked me out of it. I would really miss the remote and some of the features it had, etc. so now I'm looking at the ws4 or the wired headphone packages. I'm definitly leaning towards the ws4 with the 11" coil. I've watched a lot of videos and scoured the forums on everything I could read on the deus, and I'm really excited to get my hands on one! I'll have to call around in the next few weeks to get the best deal, then I'm sure I'll be back on here asking for help and guidance!

Think you're on the right track except for the h.p.'s.------I've had both (WS4 & WS5's).----I like the overhead WS5's WAY better than those backphones (WS4's).------The backphones would be cooler for hot summer hunting if that's a factor to consider.------Congratulations on your soon to be Deus purchase, I'm sure you will love it.-------Hope you will make your purchase from one of our Findmall dealer/sponsors---they will make you a good deal & they are the ones that help keep this great Forum going---they need/deserve our support.---------------Del

Thanks Del. I'll definitely try to purchase from one of the sponsors. I'll prob try calling next week to see what kind of prices I can get.
I was leaning towards the ws4's because I "think" I would be able to use the module and use it on a pair of grey ghosts or Vance muffs, etc . So I would prob use back phones in summer and the other brand in the colder months. I could be wrong though in my research though :) I want to be wireless though, and if the wired headphones are all I can afford now I'll have to go that route and get the wireless headphones at a later date...

My way of thinking is you can get the WS5 full headphones for most of your detecting and also get the wired backphones that XP make, this will allow you to plug the wired headphones into the controller and use them during the summer.

In my personal opinion the XP wired backphones are as good or in some cases better sounding than headphones costing many times more,i would think that the XP wired ones would cost about $20-25 going by the UK price, also they make a superb set of backup headphones if you need them at any time.

Worth thinking about, going down the route of the controller is a wise move albeit more expensive but it does mean that you can alter thje progs to your liking, that is a big bonus,i do have a controller mainly for ltering a few setting but dont always carry it as i mainly go by the audio as i feel its more reliable at depth over the screen.

Good luck

Get the WS4 and the $24 adapter kit and you can remove the remote from the headphones , plug it onto the adapter kit and plug in any set of headphones , including the ones you already have. Drop the headphone control into a pocket and you're untethered from the machine. It's the most versatile set up of the choices

I'm so indecisive.... Part of me thinking get a package with wireless headphones, part of me trying to save money and get the wired headphones for now and upgrade to wireless at a later date.. I still have couple weeks before I purchase though to make up my mind!

Take your time & think it over.-----If cash is short--nothing wrong with going the wired h.p. route now & making the wireless upgrade later.-----You would be set both ways if that's the direction you choose to take.

I had a similar dilemma choosing and i ended up going with the wired phones with the remote and 11" coil. Figures i can always save up to buy a pair of the world ones but really need the remote. Hope your happy with it either way, i know i am!

I think I'll be happy either way...my wife more happy if I get the wired version :) lol. Anyhow, I just ordered Andy's book, so maybe that will clear some things up for me!

the book will help, it helped me as well as the videos out there. I too was talked into getting the remote and was really glad I got it, you can do so much more with it. congrats on going for it, you will love it.

Im hoping to maybe make it to a bootcamp as well this year if all goes as planned. That, plus the book, this forum, and a bunch of videos, Im sure Ill be a lot more comfortable with it as time goes on.

Go wireless now with backphones, controller and 11" coil. You will not be disappointed.

Thats what Im leaning towards. Still a bit undecided on coil size though. I like to hunt fields where old farmhouses once stood so lots of iron, plus a large park near me with lots of trash, so I keep looking towards the 9", but Ive heard the 11" isnt too bad either in those scenarios....So I keep going back and forth on the 9 vs 11"! Ive got a couple weeks to do a bit more research on them though I guess...

Got the wired an the 11 inch coil an controller for 1149 from bigboystoys free delivery, came from a sovereign an mxt its so much lighter

The Deus has been ordered and I'll have it this week! Ended up getting ws4 package with 11" coil. I have had Andy's book for a couple of weeks now, and watched a ton of videos, so I feel like I'm getting a better grasp on things. I just need to get my hands on it now and get some time in with it. I'll probably start out on a few newer soccer fields and a new school where trash and iron shouldn't be too bad. I think the consensus is to just start off in basic 1 or 2 and start learning the tones, etc? Just wondering if full tones is something I should start out on and learn that from the get go? Or should I stick with something like 3 tones to start? Anyhow, I'm excited and can't wait to try out my Deus. Today would have been a perfect day as its supposed to be in the 70's here in Indiana, but I'll have to wait a few more days I guess....
