Closing in on coin #1000 from One Park

I've been listing all detecting finds on an Excel spread sheet for many years now. Starting with my first find on 10/31/87(1900-O Barber dime) up to last weekend's 1943-P war nickel. I was wondering how many coins I have dug over the years at one particular park. Easy to do by sorting the list by location, coin type and coin date. Was surprised when the total came in at 977. No wheat cents included. This is just silver, older coppers and indian head cents, older nickels, etc. Just to give you an idea on the numbers: 425 indian head cents, 172 Buffalo nickels, 118 Mercury dimes, 93 V nickles, 68 Barber dimes, 8 Barber quarters, 2 Barber halfs, 3 two cent pieces, 16 Roosies, 5 Standing Liberty quarters, 1 flying eagle cent, 1 seated liberty dime, 30 Jefferson War nickels and a bunch of pre-1900 foreign silver and coppers. Oldest coin dug there was an 1806 Spanish 1/2 reale. I'm just about ready to give up on this place but not before I can squeeze out another 23 coins to hit the 1000 total. Nearly 24 years of detecting there. Time to move on to greener pastures !

awesome , ED !

The best part is that you had to work to get those coins. And all the trash in between too.....very nice totals !!

Thanks Ed - that is really good information and gives everyone an idea of what types and amounts of coins were carried back "in the day". I think I'm most blown away by the number of Indian Head cents you found. All of this is truly amazing. I hope you can squeeze out another 23 pieces. HH

Ed,

That is simply awesome!! I do the same thing in the park you and Charles came to hunt with me in Fall River- I'm 5 short of 700 out of that park and taking a trip "home" Saturday to see if I can't scrounge up those 5.

Continued success and once you get to 1001, 2000 can't be far behind!!

Good luck!

Jeff

That is amazing. Congrats on finding such a productive park.

Wow, that's amazing....hey let me know what park that is so I don't go there! It's not Washington in Albany is it? Not much left there either.

I must be close.....prospect in Brooklyn? naw.....I don't head to Albany much but this is obviously a big park....hmmmm.....not the gated one on Saratoga? Betcha find some goods in there!
