Closing in on the owner of the 1937 Class ring...

Pete in MI

New member
Received word today there was only one person in the class of 1937 with initials that fit those inscribed in the ring.

I am now in search of someone about 88 years old by the name of Donald Raymond. The yearbook does not list the middle name or initial but is the only DR graduating in that year.

With 1937 so close to World War II, and being a young lad he may have served his country in WWII. So many never made it back from WWII - I can only hope he is still alive so I can get this ring back to him.

Going to call the high school tomorrow and see if I can find out who is in charge of class reunions for the class of 1937. I figure they may have information about his whereabouts and status.

Will let ya know what I find out.

because of privacy issues, my pal Chuck and I were not allowed to talk directly with that person and I still have the ring that Chuck found with my detector. Know the name of the lady and the school and at least one activity.
Go for it.

I am hoping you find the owner and can bring back a really good story.

Is it a local High School?
My first class ring was a 1933, and I would be elated to even give it to his kids!

I am sure the gentleman had really felt its loss...one has to remember between 1929/30 with its stock market crash (Black Friday) and the beginning of World War II those were the depression days. It had to have been a hardship on the kid's (owner of the ring) folks and maybe sisters/brothers if he had any in order to afford such a luxury in those hard times.

That alone makes this a more valuable ring. I want to know the story of how he came to get it...and how he came to lose it...and when. Has that ring sat in the water from shortly after he got it until 2007?

Would like to know more about the owner as a kid in high school and as an adult all these many years.
