Club hunt 10/29/05

[attachment 9848 silvercoins.jpg]Had a good hunt yesterday at another well hunted out park in Seattle, but the old Minelab still finds the silver that others have left behind. The merc's are 1917 and the other two are both 1942. The buffalo is 27, the quarter is 36 and my wheats are two 56's and the other I couldn't get a date. I tried Andy Sabisch's old coin program and it must have worked. Can't wait till our next hunt and see if I can't find some more silver. HH all.

RE: cloctor

I have the Explorer XS and not the Explorer II, but I don't think it matters. First off for the "old coin program" turn your sensitivity down to 1. This will knock out any metal or electrical objects that maybe close by and then:

(a) press the Menu touchpad and select options.

(b) Select Advanced.

(c) Press the Detect touchpad until the Advanced Learn screen appears.

(d) Press the touchpad on the lower left portion of the display screen until either the Small or Medium size cursor is shown. I used the medium size cursor.

(e) Press the upper right touchpad once to turn the entire screen black rejecting All targets.

(f) Press the check mark touchpad on the left side of the display screen. The check mark will start flashing. Pass the coins you want to program the Explorer to detect past the search coil one at a time until you get a consistent audio response from each coin.

(g) Press the check mark touchpad again to turn off the Learn circuit.

(h) Check the setting by passing the various coins across the coil. If any are rejected then repeat the set up steps again.

Thats about it. Before heading out to the field turn your sensitivity up as high as it will go or until it just starts to break up. Hope this helps. I sugest that you get ahold of one of Andy Sabisch's books called Mastering the Minelab Explorer XS & S. It has a lot of good information in it and it has helped me understand some things that the owners manual didn't even come close to telling you. HH.
