Coil cord to wrap?

issombeituni

New member
I have read many people say wrap the cord tight other say loose and others say to
Keep it straight up the shaft halfway then wrap??

Whats the way to do this properly???

The biggest thing is to not have any flopping around near the coil that it might pick up on.

I personally go over the shaft and wrap it not tight but not loose. I want to be able to move my coil position w/o ever drawing it too tight (possibly straining the cable or connectors).

I agree... keeping the cable from moving is key, whether it is wrapped or not, it should be stable. Just don't wrap or strap it so tight you pull on the connector or the strain relief on the coil.

I leave mine relatively loose except i put one of those Velcro straps around the cable and shaft about 8" above the coil which keeps the coil from drooping down onto the coil. Don't get me wrong, I do wrap the cable around the shaft about 3 or 4 times which still allows it to remain fairly loose but not in the way when you set the detector on the ground. I often switch coils and I don't feel that wrapping and unwrapping a tight cable is very good for the cable.
