Coil Design For High and Low Conductors

In the post down below, I asked what frequency or frequencies work best with high conductors (like silver) and which work best with low conductors (like gold). The answer that came back was that lower frequencies generally work best with high conductivity targets, higher frequencies generally work best with low conductivity targets, and frequencies in the mid-range are generally the best choice for all-purpose machines.

I haven't seen any mention of that over years of following the forums and reading every thing on detecting I could. Neither have I had any experience to suggest that. That said, generally concentric coils are considered to be deeper size for size than DD/widescan and discriminate better. On the other hand the DD or widescan design tend to cover more ground size for size, handle mineralization somewhat better and slip thru trashy areas a bit better at the cost of a bit less depth (size for size). The widescan DD coils are pretty standard on detectors for prospecting, but I believe that's because gold areas are usually mineralized rather than for any better sensitivity to gold. I'm sure that if what you ask were the case, the manufacturers would be tooting their horns on the "superiority" of their product for whichever use.
