Coil for my MX5

Looking to add a coil for my MX5, the 9in. Spider does a good job but would like some ideas for a coil for trashy areas and open areas. Have given some thought about a DD, what do you guys think. My MX5 is a real sleeper, you don't hear to much about it, but that's okay because its working for me. Looking for ideas to add a second coil. Thanks

standard 9" spider Concentric coil does very well in more open, sparse-target areas. The problem is that many areas are not that easy to hunt due to the amount of trash.

The best general-purpose search coil for the MX5, in my opinion that is based on a lot of experience using it, is the 6½" Concentric coil .... labeled a 5.2 Eclipse. I have used White's DD coils and aftermarket DD coils, but in trashier sites and general use, they didn't beat the 5.3 Eclipse from White's.

I am using the 5.3 Eclipse more and more on my M6. The ID especially with bottlecaps is better than the DD or SEF coils. I will say though in major trash infested areas, the 4X6 is a precision coil that will find the good stuff between the bad stuff.

I use both the 5.3 and 4x6 shooter coil. For some time now I have been using the 4X6 shooter coil. That is the one on my MX5 now.....Jack
