I am going to buy larger coil for an explorer 2 for open fields to cover alot of space and was needing some opinions. I was looking for something maybe in the 14-18" range. I generally hunt relics and old coins. I never do any beach hunting. Please let me know what works best for you or your experiences. Thanks alot............Aaron

WOT coil for me for large covering needed
BUT I also use the stock and joey in plowed because plowed fields are 1'-2'+ deep(rows) and the WOT gets hard to manuver sometimes in them with dead plantings- corn stalks etc
The Platypus will be my next field coil for sure.......... I hope

Ok thank you. Will probably end up with the wot. I have heard good things on this forum about it..........Aaron

I have found a bunch of good stuff I have missed with the standard coil. My only suggestion to improve the W.O.T. is for a "coil cover" that covers the entire bottom of the coil for cleaner sweeps. A coil that large hangs up alot sweeping it. But I'm extrememly happy with "Doc" and my W.O.T. coil.
