Coil Misidentified by X-terra 70?

Hey folks,
I recently picked up a 10.5" DD HF coil for my 70. For giggles the other day I tried out the "Coil Identification" feature by selecting Menu and then holding down Accept/Reject (pg 48 of the manual).

The display surprised me. Shouldn't the display on the detector read "dH"?

I tried it with my small HF DD coil and it displayed as it should ("dH").

Otherwise, the big coil works great without issues. Should I be concerned?

Huh? I wonder if Minelab just put the wrong sticker on the coil? It sure seems as though that is reading DD standard (7.5 kHz)

I did the same on 10.5 DD 7.5kHz............"d5" TomB

OK, I had to test my 10.5" DD 7.5 kHz coil as well.....d5 also.

I agree that the dS represents a DD coil at the Standard 7.5 kHz frequency in a DD coil. It appears someone along the line got the wrong tag on the coil. As to being concerned........ if you are happy with the coil, I wouldn't be concerned. However, if you bought it new and were wanting a HF DD coil, I'd contact the dealer and see if you can swap it out. Or, if the dealer won't do it, contact Minelab Customer Service and see if they will swap it out for you. JMHO HH Randy

Thank guys. I bought the coil used, off "another" forum. I might just contact minelab and see what they suggest.

I'd really rather have the MF (standard) coil anyway ;)

Wayne, if it works well, I'd keep it. I've not found any difference in depth between either of the 10.5 inch DD coils. And if you hunt for coins in modern sites, you'll find the 7.5 kHz isn't as "hot" on aluminum can slaw. JMHO HH Randy

I might see if minelab would swap for one that is labeled correctly.
