Coil Problem

dig it DanO

New member
Just received a new 3Khz coil and seem to have a problem right off the bat. After installing the coil to my XT50, I get a CI error (coil incompatible). My understanding is or was that the 3Khz coil is compatible with the XT70, XT705, XT50, and the XT505. I did a FP with the low Freq. coil plugged in. This did not correct the CI error. I removed the 3Khz coil and installed my High freq coil and then did another factory preset. The high freq coil worked fine when it was on. After the factory preset with the high freq coil, I removed it and tried the 3 again. CI again. I repeated all of this with a med. freq. coil. I change coils often and never have any problems. This 3 Khz just does not seem to work on my detector. Any help or tips would be appreciated. I e-mailed Minelab, but don:t expect to hear from them until next week.

You can NOT use the 3 kHz coil on the XT50, but you can use it on the XT505. On the XT50 you can only use the MF and the HF coils.

I did not know and neither did the retailer that I bought it from. Thanks a lot I should not have any trouble getting my money back.

Mark is correct. The 3 kHz coil is only compatible with the X-70 , X-505 and X- 705. Maybe I should change the topic of your post to "Retailer problem" instead of "Coil problem".
If this was sold retail, the retailer should be a licensed Minelab dealer. Wouldn't you think that licensed dealers should know what is compatible and what is not? Let us know if you have any trouble getting your money back. JMHO HH Randy

It is a retailer problem. You can see where I copied and paste a portion of their advertisement a few post above. I did not wont to give the name of the company on this forum. Thanks again for the help and support. Dan

With so many coils and models, there are sure going to be problems and mix-ups. Hard to keep up with them all.
