Coil question on the Explorer SE

PoorMansGold

New member
I want to get a Explorer SE but what is the difference between the 11 inch Pro Coil and the 10x12 sef as far as performance? Thanks

That depends on who you ask. The pro coil cost more, is lighter, and may be a little more sensitive to smaller targets. Im not sure it seperates any better nor is it any deeper. I dont find myself getting my butt kicked very often from those using the pro coil. However, that slight sensitivity to smaller targets might make a difference on a deep deep half dime. I can tell you as an old man.... if you arent digging targets and just swingging the SEF all day you better be in shape.

...i have been nailing some teeny-tiny targets at decent depth with the 10x12 SEF!

i dug several .22 shells, a couple small lead slugs and a neat little brooch the other day, at least 6"-8" deep, maybe deeper

did i mention that i really like the 10x12 SEF?

I get a lot of ghost signals that lead to phantom holes:help:

I'm not dissing the pro coil because it has found me some sweet coins...but the fact is that I dig 5 times the amount of ghost holes with it than any other coil...and I mean ANY.

I have a buddy who goes by the name "The Yeti"....who has the same problem...so I know it isn't just me.

The 10 x 12 SEF coil handles iron MUCH better for me too.

I have found a tiny earring back with the 10 x 12 at 8" deep so it is sensitive to small objects like the pro coil is too.

The one plus I feel the pro coil has is the weight...it's much lighter.
