Coil(s) questions & comments...

I sure hear a lot about the 5.3 Concentric coil from White's BUT - I live in N. Georgia & am very concerned about getting decent depth with this CONCENTRIC coil in my REALLY Bad ground! Has anyone used or compared this coil with maybe the 5" or 6" DD EXcelerator coils? I need great separation in trashy areas but I believe the DD's get better depth in my bad ground. Monte sure likes that 5.3 - I just wonder if it would perform in my bad ground? Any advice would be appreciated! :pulltab:

A lot depends on what a person considers "decent depth" to be, and also the meaning of "REALLY Bad ground."

We have to realize that very challenging ground is very likely to impede depth of detection, and I am referring to any type of search coil. I have an assortment of detectors and coils, both concentric and Double-D, and I would say that 98% of the time I favor a good concentric coil to a DD coil.

As for "Bad Ground" I can say that I do a lot of detecting in parks and schools and other urban sites where i get Ground Phase read-outs that range from '81' to '88', depending upon the make and model used. Also, with some of the units I use they provide a mineralization (iron) read-out (Fe3O4) that often shows 3 or 4 or even 5 bars of strength. I consider these combinations to be "Bad Ground."

Yes, I have. Compared with the 6

Thanks yet again Monte & I'm looking forward to talking with you soon! :pulltab:
