Coils, Metal Detectors and Field Tests?

Holedigger

New member
I read the metal detecting magazines for the latest and greatest equipment and components just like you probably do. As a matter of fact, I have a big stack of them I have saved over the years. I was just wondering, has anyone ever read a field report in anything that disparaged a coil or metal detector and said, "this thing is a piece of junk"? They almost always start out, "I took this new metal detector and/or coil to a hunted out park and found this and that... Do you know anyone who has personally witnessed the claims and believe it? If they are true, they are most likely very experienced detectorists with years of experience... Why else would a company send them a "trial detector /coil"? Now, if someone would send me a free detector / coil to try out...??? Just wondering and thinking about such trials and claims. Some times my critical thinking gets the best of me??

I will start out with the Company will proofread the report before its publsihed so that should tell you something..I could name at least a dozen seasoned detectorists that have been doing it for years.
They usually do a good job reporting the worings of a unit and now and then a tip that is invaluable for better performance..On the whole
usually good reading and evaluation but if you read between the lines they usually accentuate the good aspects and downplay the bad but on the whole I think they do a good job as they have used and tested many detectors over the years and are quick to spot the plus and minus features which all units do have as there indeed is no perfect detector or for that matter no perfect evaluator..Honestly I read them all as they do contain info not in the manual and sure they find good stuff in evaluations as they are in fact excellent detectorists that can get the most out of a unit and usually have prime hunting grounds which increases their chances for good finds..

don't they? And over the years I've owned a few different models of detectors. I wasn't fortunate enough to start out at the top of line, but rather worked my way up the ranks, just like most of you have.
One thing I've found to be true is every detector step I've taken has been more up to date. Each improved in it's own right! We may never see a bad review in any magazine...Personally I hope we continue to see good news, better updates, and more and more reviews that will bring us one step closer to finding it all!:clapping:
enjoy,
KCK
