I got my digger dusty this evening and noticed fractures around the one ear. I believe I got it in Jan of 2013 but cant find my receipt.I know they have a two year warranty. Has anyone had this issue or had to deal with Coiltek? I had just decided to get the 15" 3khz but am now a little leery with how this has held up.

Coiltek Manufacturing(CTM) provides a full 2 year warranty on all manufactured coils and accessories (some products may vary). This warranty starts from the date of purchase by the customer. This is applicable worldwide. This warranty covers any manufacturing errors like cracks in plastics or performance issues like no response which are from manufacturing faults – usually these are noticeable within the first few hours of use. The warranty does not cover normal use or misuse of the product.

Coiltek said I am out of luck. The warranty was only 1 year when I purchased the coil (Jan of 2013 according to them).They also gave me great advice and said to try and not get it wet to preserve its function for as long as possible. I wish I would have know to wait a couple months to get the two year warranty and waterproof coil for the same price. I question what changed the design. I hate being a guinea pig. This was not the type of service I had hoped for from the only company that makes after market coils that are approved for Minelab. I guess I will only get original Minelab coils from here on out or I may even go to the dark side and try an unapproved coil.

Don't see why you can't clean it really well and mix up some two part epoxy or something that will adhere to it really well and build up the surface area around where you see the cracking. Someone that does work with fiberglass and resin could probably take care of that for you.
Worse case is you get someone to make up a new mount and grind both ears off of the coil with a Dremel and affix the new mount to it. Won't be a 15 minute project but I'm sure that you can make it better than new one way or the other. Your all ready out of warranty but that's too good of coil to leave sitting around unused.

That is what I plan to do. I am going to attempt to remove the cover and figured I would use a two part marine epoxy to encase the coil and possibly make it water tight. It is a nice coil but I will not purchase another from Coiltek. I was going to get the 15" 3kHz for my birthday but I told the wife to hold off. I am going to look at the 10" 3kHz that Minelab makes. I wish they had more coils of their own or subcontracted them out to more than one company. Kind of a monopoly they have there. I know I have heard all of the sub-par stuff before but going through the correct channels didn't get me any further ahead at this point!
The only 3kHz they make is the 9" concentric. But if you are using it in areas with moderate mineralization, it is hard to beat! JMHO HH Randy

Once that starts to happen then you may also be passing some trade secrets on to that company. Doing this with a bunch of companies could "accidentally" produce an additional company now competing with them. It's understandable why they want to keep things close to the belt.
A company that decides to make a coil not approved by Minelab may work but your also running the risk of mating up something with your detector manufactured by a company that does not know all of the intricate details about the interaction between the controller and the coil. If Minelab puts their stamp of approval on someone's product, they know that it meets the criteria of the design of their controller. They know that any product connected to their controller will have a direct reflection on the customer's perception of their product. A product from a rouge manufacturer so to speak could over time cause some stress or even damage on the components in your controller that may not be noticeable on your first outing. Minelab may then be stuck trying to fix a problem that the user feels is owed to them just because a coil connected to their controller. Not really fair to them. To me, an unapproved coil is just a bad idea. Gone are the days of a coil just being a coil of wire. Now there is a lot more going on inside of them than just a coil of wire.
I don't work for or sell products made by either company but I will say that a couple of guys at Coiltek in Australia have personally been very good to me and my family. We've spent a lot of money as a family on their products and we've not had one ounce of trouble. It's just unfortunate that you noticed the issue that you are seeing maybe just a little too close to the wrong side of the warranty period. I think you'll be able to keep that coil up and running reguardless but I feel your pain.
