coin huntin old house area

I am kinda new to this as most of ya know, but i found some good stuff already, just wondern on coins i found a nice 1875 seated liberty dime in this field that used to have a old house, but has been torn down. Are thier usualy more coins in a area if u find one? also for those of ya that know me update on this site of finds was a zovave button other then that bunch of more junk and farm equipment. just think thier shold be more coins out thier bein i found that dime out thier, and also a large cent. thanks for any input on coin huntin.

You really never know. It is possible that whoever lived there didn't have much money or they were very careful with their money and never lost any. Or some old lady could have spilled her purse and lost a load of change. Just as an example when I first got my detector I hunted my yard. I live out in the country in what was primarily farm ground. My house was built in the 1970's and there was a farm field here before. The very first coin I found was an 1836 Capped Bust dime, I found nothing else older then the mid 1980's. So go figure how that one old dime ended up here but it did. I know several people who hunt the old home sites that are now fields and do very good.

Maybe, maybe not. Just depends if there were more coins lost. Farm Hands, Owner, Kids playing....... How much actual cash flowed in that household..........
........................ I have found several..to o coins in farm fields where an old homestead used to be.

Another possibility is a cache......... Located sometimes next to fence row post....or out buildings. The potential for lost coins is everywhere..though you "WILL NOT" find coins everywhere.

I am a pretty firm believer that if there is 1, then there is 2. I would branch out from where you found the good targets and give it a bit more time. Old home sites are pretty good spots. Good luck. HH jim tn

yea thanks y'all, i went out thier this mornin for a hr or so and found a 1849 large cent not in to bad of condition besides some corrision that i need to figure out how to get off. this paticular site as i am in the country as well is a field out across the road from me,found alot of the red bricks wear a lane is that used to be right off the a dirt road wich is now paved, but the large cent i found this mornin was right there at the very begining of this path wich i am perty shure was thier drive way, also fond that union eagel breast plate right there... into the field a few yards and to the right about 40 yards is wear i found another old large cent but cant hardly tell its really bad shape, then like 100 yards out thier more out in the field was the 1875 seated liberty. there is some red bricks out in that area, but found most rgiht ther in the beginning of the driveway i beleive it was. kinda sounds like to me that they pushed most of it to the beginning there, but not shure. almost makes ya wonder whear that house was and what all happend in this field. also found that zovave button out there aways from all this stuff.

Redneckjimmy, good spot. Sometimes those coins the size of large cents may be something older, like a Hibernia farthing from the early 1700's. You can do the "paper over the coin with the side of a pencil trick" and maybe more definition will show up, after you clean it up a bit.

Can you post a picture of the zouave button?

no need on this one, everythings visable but has some green corrosion on the back of it,actually can scrape off with finger nail, but afraid of scratchin it or loosen value of the coin. the other one now is history cant see nothing at all its really bad
