Coin ratio

New member
I know is different for everyone and my ratio will change with time .I have seen a wheat to silver ratio of 6 to 1 from others
After adding some new dug coins i was surprised to see a Indian to silver ratio of 1 to 1.64 that is more silver than Indians.
Merc dime to Rosie all most even + 1 Merc The strangest ratio of V nickels to Buffalo's 3 to 1
Anyone else with a odd count HH Mike

Silver ratio to other coins in my part of Britain is around 30 cupro nickle and copper (plus a few brass) to each silver coin found. Doesn't sound to good but that meant 263 silver coins last year. Unfortunately pure silver coins seemed to have been kept in circulation much longer in the old days so though they survive really well in the soil or beach they are often really well worn.

Coin ratio's have much to do with the age of the site. An old home site that saw activity to say 1900 and then became a field will yield the type of coins for that era. Interestingly, I have also found more Mercury dimes then Rosies this year, too, 61 Mercs., 44 Rosies. As I have mentioned before, my wheats to silver ratio is will above the 6 to 1 figure, of others.
