Ok after talking with Big Red (thanks for giving me hope).
I am going to get out this afternoon to a well hunted spot of mine that has low trash and has produced coins from the 1830's and up.
I have both the 8 and 10 inch coils but am going to learn with the 8 inch coil to cut down on frustration :)
Now here is what I need to make sure of
Senc setting 5
Dis 99
threshold -25
sweep speed moderate to fast.....someone help me here compare this sweep speed to say an XLT?
ground balance in all metal then switch back to disc.
Any first time help would be great

Big Red's m huntin buddy, sounds like he set you right, sweep speed not real critical, just don't go real slow, it will handle fast sweeps alright, just experiment a little, and stay with the 8in. for a while, after you get it figured out pretty good then go to the big coil, and HH
