Cointrax II chip for Treasure Baron now ready

George Payne has re-designed the microprocessor chip for the Cointrax module used in the Treasure Baron detector's. The TB detector's haven't been manufactured for a few years, but Discovery is going to manufacture them again with this new chip in it. They should be out with the detector in about a few weeks.
This notice is for the many owners of the Treasure Baron units with the Cointrax module in them. This new chip upgrade makes it a completly new unit and it is availble for sale to all that would like to upgrade.
Mr. Bill
Here is a copy of JB's post about the new chip.
Cointrax II chip
George posted below that their website is up and running, the Cointrax II ver: 2.0 chip is ready and anyone can purchase one right now. For those planning to buy the new chip, if you plan to install it yourself be very careful when extracting the original chip. The new chip is easy to put in but the original can be a little balky coming out, don't get overly aggresive and crack the chip socket.

I was going to check with you or Gary before posting about the chip, you saved me the trouble <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">. Seriously, the new chip makes a huge difference in what was already an excellent detector. With the original chip it could hunt with the deepest other detectors, at least it could in the mild ground here, and the new chip takes it to another level. I've been a Treasure Baron user for several years and have had great results with all of their various models but the Cointrax with the new chip is pretty awesome in what it allows the user to do. If I sould like I'm selling them I'm not, even though I tested the new chip I'm paying for the final version like everyone who buys one. I'm getting absolutely nothing except the fun of using them and the finds I'm sure the new Cointrax II will produce.

I like the way the TB Cointrax unit operates, it certainly can hold it's own.
The new chip should make a noticeable difference, certainly along the lines of user friendliness.
Hopefully Discovery will resume some production on the complete detector, and accessories.

In an email a couple of weeks ago George said he had talked to Ron at Discovery Electronics and because of problems with suppliers it would be early January before they start producing the Millennium II Baron with the new chip. Hopefully they won't have any more delays.
