Colorado Mosquito Nugget Hunt

colt

New member
I took a week off of work and left the Arizona desert to go visit the grand kids in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on the way back my wife and I took the long way back and spent the night in Gunnison, CO. The next morning we left early and drove to one of the gold nugget field between Placerville, and Sawpit, Co. the plan was for my wife to set by a cool stream and me to fire up the Goldquest SS V-2 and find enough gold to pay for the trip.

To make a long story short, the GQ SS V-2 was running smooth, the weather was cool, the stream was picture perfect, and the mosquito's were huge and feeling mean. They were like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock move, after about an hour I had to give up the nugget hunt and run for the car, where my wife was waiting inside. I had bites on my arms and leggs in areas where they went right thru my clothes, setting inside the car, you could hear them hitting the windows, trying to get in. No nuggets on this hunt, just bumps.

Sounds like a good spot. Looks like the mosquitoes were guarding the gold:rofl: You may have to check it in there off season.
