I don't what the deal is with my 705 but this thing is a dime magnet !!! It seems like a 38/40 target tone when using my 5X10 HF DD coil just comes through like no other. I can be swinging along and hearing lots of zinc pennys and tabs then that sweet tone just jumps out at me and sure enough the display reads either 38 jumping to 40 or 40 and I dig a dime. Of course I still get the copper pennies but the dimes are way more plentiful. I went on a long hunt last weekend and dug 37 dimes which was more than any other denomination. Yesterday on a short hunt, I hit 15 dimes compared to 2 quarters, 1 nickel, and 6 pennies. It's like a dime signal is louder or something. Can anyone explain this to me. Is it just that I have my ear trained to that tone or is it the HF coil or what. I'm not complaining but just curious !! I seem to dig a higher quarter ratio when using the 10.5 MF DD but still hit a lot of dimes. Since I have switched to the X-terra, I believe dimes are my predominant coins dug. I will say that I tend to cherry pick when I get tired of digging zincolns so that probably has something to do with it.
