Coming from a vaquero to maybe a vista smart plus?

I’m a relic hunter that digs in timber and pasture ground here in the Midwest. I hit a lot of sites that are iron infested badly. I put about all I can stomach into my Tesoro lineup and and feel I am starting to want to move up to a better relic machine for my old sites. I have watched the vids and they are impressive. Appears that it would smoke my vaquero in about every way. I’ve been pointed at equinox, v3i,Deus, Teknetics, but I’m a no frills guy and these look to be a logical improvement from Tesoro.

Keith Southern pretty much tells it like it is. He has some pretty bad soil and iron infested sites in Georgia, the DT's do punch thru it.... He has some excellent videos out. https://www.youtube.com/user/relics1864/search?query=deeptech

My experience with DT's is one particular model, the Vista Gold. With the Super 6 coil on it most of the time. It handled our sandy, dirt mix with black magnetic sands extremely well.
For me it was a big step up from using the Tesoro detectors in mineralized soils with the Gold having extra depth capabilities. I liked the iron audio and the way you can set the tone breaks, etc.

Think there were a couple guys in the US that have used the Smart +/Sprites, passed them along to try other DT units, who might respond to your posts. I actually thought about getting one of the two to try out. But, kind of gravitating to maybe the Gold Gain or ? for next season.

Since you have the urge to venture beyond the Tesoro and have an interest in the DT units, take some time look over the models and maybe you'll find a second hand unit to try out.
Hard to say which one would be the best for you. I'm sure Ziggy and the other owners here could give you some more tips. I keep coming back to this forum to keep a breast of whats happening here and abroad. Ziggy has lots of UK videos as well. https://www.youtube.com/user/ziggyjinx/search?query=deeptech

Ziggys vids are great. I vegged out to them for a bit. After more searching, I still want to try a deeptech next. But I’m going to wait. They seem to really listen to folks and I really want to see a US specific detector from them with expanded disc and whatever else they choose. They seem to be a great and relevant company imo.

Read all you can about them, take your time, when one model strikes your interest the most and the timing is right. Then take the jump.
I am sure there are a lot of people taking the wait and see approach to next year.........................

Yes indeed. Though my Tesoros are meeting my needs pretty well, the DeepTech machines look great. I'll be watching to see what DT comes out with next.

Brands in Europe are really changing quick, though I haven’t been looking at them for very long. A quick look into the recent past shows that brands like DT and Nokta/Makro continue to improve and introduce new models very quickly. I like that. It shows a constant R and D to meet customer needs/ wants. WE WANT YOU IN THE U.S. WOTH A MACHINE TAILORED TO OUR NEEDS!!!!!

Hopefully their listening over there. Might not be fair, but sometimes we feel a little neglected over here. Seems like our guys are getting beat with a stick.

I have the Smart Plus and I'm in the US as well. I also own a Tejon. Im in Central Virginia and mainly hunt iron infested sites. I bought the Smart Plus mainly for it's blazing recovery speed and raw power. It's a deep machine with any coil you put on it. I have the super 6 and the 5" coils for the iron. The 5" is mind-blowing in the really heavy iron. However I have the Pitbull as well and it's separation in heavy iron is pretty damn good also. My finds in my hunted out sites are incredible. But it does like foil even when the discrimination is all the way up. It's nothing to find the tiniest piece of foil at 6". It's rare that I hunt in modern trash so it's not really an issue. I think you start to get into that grey area of knocking out gold when you discriminate foil to a certain point. Open field hunting with the Pitbull coil is also deadly combo as it is super deep. If you want a simple machine that's high performance then a Deeptech is for you. I hope to add a Gold Gain to my arsenal in the future. If you decide to go with one contact Richard at Backwoods Detectors. Outstanding guy,he not only sells them but uses them also. Very knowledgeable guy with fast service here in the US.

I will have a chance to use an MX Sport here soon. Should be interesting to cross check with the vaquero. The f75 is great but has been shown up by others. The at pro is like a Chevy 350. Everybody has or had one. But what is NEW here? We lost a great company here recently because of a stagnant lineup with no future direction. It’s time for an American detector to show up Deus, equinox, and Anfibio. My personal opinion is that Fisher/Teknetics could have the next powerhouse. At least I would hope so. They just seem most in touch with American outdoorsman. I can still remember looking at dads old cabelas catalogs and seeing the adds the “ new Teknetics t2!” Back before it was a classic lol. A machine I may still buy just to have. I’m just not sure it can find anything my vaquero can’t!
