Community Service--Tatum Hunt--For the Kids

As many of us know, a large part of our clubs is to support our communities that need our services. I'm sure all clubs support their community, law enforcement and needed events in your area just as many clubs here in the East Texas area do. However, if an opportunity presents itself to support thousands of children in their education and activities, then we must take it. Such is the case here!
I volunteered to be the huntmaster and organizer of the NEW Annual Open "Friends of the East Texas Children" Treasure Hunt. Sponsored by the Friends of the Tatum Public Library whereby funds from this 'fundraiser hunt' each year will go to the purchase of land, cost of building of a new community learning center, expansion of their library, and books for the children in the East Texas area, located in Tatum, Texas.
This Annual Open hunt will be a planted hunt and will start out as a One Full Day of hunt activities for all. All donations will be tax deductible thru the "Friends of the Tatum Public Library" and all payments for entries must be address as such but are not tax deductable.
Lots of excellent prizes and detectors were donated, and over 15,000 coins were planted for this event.
May 20th was the date we chose, we hope will continue to be the same time each year.
It was my hope, that each of us will be able to take a single day out of our busy schedule and support the projects to help the East Texas Kids. A special thanks goes to all of you that attended and supported this cause.
The New Tatum Learning Center is a much needed center for the many special programs the library does for the East Texas children every summer. The library is just too small to accommodate that many kids and many parents have stop coming to these wonderful learning summer programs because of the cramp accommodations. The children are our future and we must help to educate them anytime we have the opportunity to do so. Thanks for affording one day of our time to accomplish that goal. Thank you all!
Keith Wills, huntmaster
