Compadre owner...want to purchase silver umax

Deputy1M

New member
Hey everyone! New to the forum and have a question. I bought a used compadre last spring and love it. Debating a purchase of a new silver umax. Is it worth the money for a second Tesoro. Wondering if the nrw Unit is an "upgrade". Thanks!!

Or should I move up the chain and get a cibola? Would love to have em all!

I have both and would get the Cibola if I had it to do again. I used my Compadre more than my Silver.

how long is a piece of string  where to stop ?? but yep a detector with a GB would be best but nothing wrong with the silver or cibola if the ground is mild.

if you are considering a cibola, in my opinion, just get the vaquero. it has the manual ground balance and can you search in all metal without having to hold the pin point button down. not knocking the cibola but, for the little extra money, why not have those options. the ground balance, have read, is real good for putting different coils on it also. i think having options like those is nice to have, even if not needing them, than needing them sometime in the future, and not having...

Yep ground balance so you can swap coils. If you are not averse to buying used you can pick up a vaquero for a song more than the silver. Around here the ground can swing from 50 to 90 once you step out of a park into the woods.

I agree with the ground balance suggestions. The balance function, done properly, never hurts you, but the lack of it in some ground, can.
