Compadre + sandy shelled parking lot = Some great luck!

Being new to Tesoro I got the Compadre for hunting trashy areas. Hunted this lot before, always lots of pennies, some clads, and smashed cheap trinkets. So hunting right along setting midway on foil, picking up clad a alum. tabs. than I heard a real scratchy sound. On top I spot a rusty wire rope on the side of a parking spot. I'm thinking "What a piece of crap" Almost didn't pick it up. Shortly after, found a great Jesus on a cross, seems like silver, but not marked. Later, my wife asked what I brought this junk home for? It was a neckless, had a clasp. She started cleaning it up and said "No way"! Clasp said 14k Italy. Turned out rust was red, grimy, soil. It's cleaning up real nice, no rust. Looks to be 20" white Gold, clasp intack. Fact is Not having to look at a screen, target caught my eye, by the sound. Fact2 This coil is just right, small but not too small. Fact3 Swing a coil enough and pay attention, sometimes good things happen! Sorry no pics cam is on the fritz

Way to go!

The Tesoro Compadre is an awesome detector. I found setting the discrimination between 'iron' and 'foil' works best for me.

That setting gives me good depth on small gold jewelry. No discrimination works even better if you're in a not so trashy area.

Nice job Dancer. Now you know the effectiveness of the Compadre. That is the first of many amazing finds to come and probably more Tesoro machines in the future. You probably paid for or close to paid for your Compadre with that one find. The Compadre is the one detector I will never sell. Probably buy another one for the kids when they get older. The second thing I learned early on is keep all your stuff you have found in a hunt untill you get home to check it out. I would have tossed some silver out if I would have tossed stuff before getting a closer look. Congrats on a great find and what a great story. HH

Watch that foil setting , becuas white gold breaks up ,

Good hunting. Your story demonstrates something that has happened to me a number of times. As often as not, when I've heard an odd sound that doesn't fit any of the more normal ones it turns out to always be worth checking. Not a goodie every time, but definitely often enough to be worth the effort. Never pass up a strange sounding signal.

Way to go Dancer! Something you said about not watching a screen, works for me too. Had been using Ace 250, not saying it's a bad machine had lots of fun with it but the screen was kind of a waste of time for me always trying to figure out what was there. Sure passed up a lot of good targets. HH, Glenn
