Compadre vs my 3 other machines

I try to rotate the use of all 4 of em equally. The Com. Might get a little more time the Pro gets all the water time. So after a little over 6000 coins this yr. The Compadte leads in most nickels most pennies by far. 1017 of em . Strange thing tho the Comparde found all my 3 pieces of gold. But only 1 silver cross out of a total of 14 pieces of silver I found this yr. Of course a lot of this depends on just the luck of the hunter. Compadre did fine 2 fine chains (in the iron location) sadly they both turned out to be steel junk. Never mine it proves something the little raider can stand up to em all. Oh and adding up Treasure plus coins it leads in total $ by about $60. I use the C to clean out a lot of the trash hoping for gold. Ends up one of the others goes back in and ends up with the silver. It's all about total results.

I also have many detectors. I think the one I use most all the time is the compadre. I love using it. After a while you learn what it is telling you. You learn to trust it.
When I have a bigger spot to hunt I use the silver uMax. When I go I take both of them... KEN

I have found the Compadre gives a softer signal on silver-quarters are a good example-and I have to slow down and check the WIDTH of the signal on some of the deeper ones. For some strange reason, the dimes give a louder signal than the quarters.

It's a bit ironic, but I'd say nearly all of my finds with more upscale detectors would have been picked up with my Compadre had I been swinging it at the time.

Tabdog could out hunt (with the Compadre) people with high end detectors, he proved it time after time.

If you haven't learned what your detector is telling you, or depend on a display to think for you.

You are missing good targets, If you see the people consistently finding the high value targets, most are digging it all (huge piles of trash for a small pile of gold & silver).

Tabdog's secret, and really it is no secret at all, was that he ran his machine with only minimal discrimination.

He started digging a ton of junk targets and finally got to the point when he learned the tone variations of his Compadre and could often tell the difference between pure junk and promising targets.

But he put in the time with his machine, did not sell it for a different machine every six weeks, and eventually he reaped the benefits.

People could easily copy Tabdog's success if they simply choose to do what he did. But most of us don't want to put in that kind of effort, opting instead for cherry picking.

If you want to cherry pick, there's nothing wrong with that (sometimes I do that myself, especially in the heat of summer), but when all you come home with at the end of the day is some clad, you have to ask yourself if that is the machine's fault, or yours?

And its not just Tabdog. Ask any successful detectorist and they all tell you the same thing, whether its the Compadre or the Minelab CTX.

You have to put in the time.

clad Dog , good word their you are so right ,

Depending on the area you are hunting digging it all is not always a good idea. It can be an easy way to get kicked out of a good area if there is too much sign of digging. That said, I have an area I lower the disc and clean out 20 or so trash targets every time I am there. It's thick enough with tabs and trash that is the only way I am gonna get to the good stuff.

Claddog is right though, if you spend enough time with detector you will learn the slight differences in the tone quality over trash and good targets. I have gotten pretty good at it with my Silver. I can even tell when pin pointing if it is a quarter by sizing the target up.

You already proved it, the Compadre kicks butt.

I have found 14 gold rings in a 3 month period this year 11 of those were with the Compadre and 2 with the Lobo ST. I haven't been out hunting much lately due to time and weather but I am one of the compadres biggest fans. I hunt with Disc. right above iron and dig all good signals. I have to force myself to use my Silver and Lobo now a days lol, my C is the spoiled child.

Congrats Deliveryboy. Is this your best yr. for gold? I hardly have 2 good yrs in a row for gold. This yr was my silver yr (for me) just 1 nice 14k ring. I'm iced in too but I'm going south to the Gulf for 2 months soon. Good luck next yr.
