Compadre ? what year did they switch from 7" to 5.75" n/t

I think they still sell the Compadre overseas with the 7 inch coil.

I too would like to know when they switched here in the USA.

I'm not sure, but they are saying the depth of the 5.75" is equivalent to depth you would get on the 7" coil.

Not long after Tesoro went to the 5.75 inch coil on the Compadre, sometime in 2005 I think, a couple of friends and I air tested a nickel lying on the ground with two earlier Compadres that had 7 inch coils and two new ones that had 5.75 inch coils. One with a 7 inch and one with a 5.75 inch were basically equal, maybe a gnats hair in favor of the 7 inch coil but not enough difference to matter. The other two, also one with 7 inch coil and one with 5.75 coil, were also equal, but lacked almost an inch matching the other two. Based on those results it would seem the only difference in depth between one with a 7 inch coil and one with a 5.75 coil, at least in air tests, depends on the factory settings and/or component values.
