Compadre with the round speaker holes?

Woodchuck

New member
Saw a picture of one with the old style speaker holes, Is there any difference in how they operate compared to the newer version with the speaker slits? I haven't seen one with the round holes before.

Mine has the round holes, sound comes out loud and clear..This is a 7 inch coil model the dealer had since before Ohio became a State..

I have several models of each. Can't say I've noticed a difference, but then I never detect without headphones. The most important piece of equipment after the detector, IMHO.

I'm with Bill, I never noticed any difference, I do think that the older round hole models are cool.

probly harder for dirt and raine to get in the slits

Yup, that's why they went to the louver design.

 The "round hole " Compadre went in to production around the same time as the first Silver Sabre uMax and Golden uMax. My first Compadre was the "louver " type. Now I own an older Compadre, an older Silver Sabre uMax and an older Golden uMax and all three have the round holes. They also have a different coil connecting bolt. The Compadres operate just a little different from each other. The newer one seperates targets better and the older one goes just about an inch deeper. Some say the older Tesoros are better than the newest ones but I don't know for sure. You can see all of these at www.treasurelinx.com. :detecting::tesoro:

The comment about the older versus the newer Compadres above would seem to indicate the difference between the 5.75 coil and the 7" coil. I get around an inch more depth with the 7" concentric mounted on my other Tesoros versus the 5.75, but a bit better separtion in trash areas with the 5.75. However, I wouldn't say it's worth adding a 5.75 if one already has a 7" coil, or vice versa for that matter.

Is the older Compadre with seven inch coil hardwired?

 My older Compadre is not hardwired. You can use interchangeable coils with it. It's a tad bit heavier than the newer one due to the 7 inch coil weighing more than the 5.75 inch coil. :tesoro::detecting:
