Confused on all the different F75's. Does the new LE version have a new processor that handles EMI better than the SE and Camo versions?

Wanting to get a F75 again. I've owner the Camo version and the SE black. I have heard the new LE (Limited Edition) handles EMI better because it has a new processor, and want to hear from Amy user out there.
Thanks

I heard the same thing about processor change by Fisher.. All I can say is my Camo could not be operated at a school near me due to EMI. The F75 LE version can, and does well with very little EMI..

Maybe is all I can say for sure............. I just know the LE (LTD) Version works much smoother. This may also be due to fine tuning by Fisher in the Version....... ??????????????????????????

I have no idea if some shielding was added or not.. That is possible I guess, and would account for less EMI Interference..

And I'm sure other SPONSOR dealers have the latest version. On Fisher web site it says LTD in Black !!

We have great Sponsors here who always have the latest, or can get them...

I had the LE and now the black SE and find it to be a little quieter .
F75s are hot and do bark some. My Gold Bug is quiet as a mouse and runs maxed out most of the time
but not as deep as the 75

The black rod version is the latest version. It came out in late 2010. It has been called LE and SE and LTD, but the different versions are told by the rod color - camo initially, then black. All versins can be subsectible to EMI, it's a very sensitive machine. Usually, you can reduce the emi by changing frequencies or lowering the sensitivity. You'll find that in boost mode, the depth is still exceptional with sensitivity turned down as low as 45.

I'm confused too. I've kept my eye on the F75 and the T2 (limited versions of these machines...whatever they have been or are now called, as I'm not interested in the "regular" versions of either but the souped up ones instead) for some time, but honestly not close enough to know just what the latest version in both hardware AND software is of both of these machines?

And, are both the latest versions equal to each other in performance and stability? Last I checked the only real difference between at least prior models of the two was that the Fisher had a back light and would save your settings? Is that all, or are there any real performance difference or other ones of note feature wise? I need to know that as well.

Reason I need all this clarified, is that I've been waiting to purchase one when the EMI and mineral stability issues were worked out. One friend says he thinks they have been now in at least the latest rendition of the F75(don't know what to call it? LTD?). He says he's own 2 or 3 prior F75 models, and that this one (the latest in software/hardware) is just fine around EMI. No worse than any other machine he's owned, and that the mineralization in our soil doesn't give it issues with stability or depth either for the first time compared to prior models he's owned. He's offered to let me try it out to see for myself, but with deep snow I have to wait, and I'm not sure just which "latest" model he has anyway. I think he might have bought it about a year ago if I heard right.

Anyway, he swears it's getting the depth of his deep silver killer "other brand name", well known for banging on deep coins. That alone was impressive to hear and peaked my interest. The depths he told me were comparible to the best machines we've owned and used in our soil with our minerals. Also, he said the recovery speed is fantastic, in that it doesn't hurt him to swing at the faster rate he likes to swing at sometimes. He's reporting finding numerous silvers at one nasty trash area that he just couldn't work with prior machines, due to him not being able to control his sweep speed like he should for a slower machine so recovery speed wasn't an issue. For that reason alone he feels he does better with his F75, as he just but can't help to swing faster most of the time unless he forces himself to slow down with mental effort.

Needless to say, I'm interested after talking to him, as I've been keeping an eye on the T2/F75 for a few years, and also have added motivation since a friend wants me to track down some info on the cream of the crop Fisher these days for him. For that reason, if anybody could answer all these questions that would greatly help me out, as I'm not only eyeing the T2/F75 limited versions to add to my arsenal of machines, but also a friend wants me to cover this ground for him as he's looking to upgrade from his CZ6a that's been broke a few years now. He mentioned he wants to stick with Fisher (but said the T2 version would be acceptable if it's what he's looking for if he can perhaps save a few bucks going that way), and that he wants both digital (numerical target ID and tone alerts).

He also wants a Fisher with "max depth" on silver these days, that can keep up with the deepest of machines on the market in this day and age. I realize that's a highly subjective statement, so please...If anybody has any opinion on the depth of the newest T2 or F75 (whatever the limited versions are now called), please shoot me a private PM with the details on your opinions on that so it's done in private for us to contemplate. Just looking for opinions here on that without causing a stink so I'd prefer a private response to hear opinions, but in terms of the other questions above feel free to answer publicly if you wish. Thanks for any advice, as you'll be killing two birds with one stone for both me and my friend who has me tracking down this info for him, as we both are in the market.

PS- I just looked on Fisher's site, and the manual or the info on the F75LTD says nothing that I can find about the number of tones it has. How many does it have, and does the T2 have the same amount?

A very, very interesting question/post/thread!------Let's see if we can get one of our dealer/sponsors or Gene Scullion or Dave J in here to answer this.---Great post Brian!---------Del

Thanks Del,
I'm wanting to buy one in the near future, but need some answers first. Thanks tho all that have contributed, hopefully we will get some answers.

FWIW, I think that the sensitivity has been tweaked with software/hardware enhancements to control chatter and EMI. In most situations with a major hardware change, i.e. processor, that would probably mean a new model release. Maybe someone else can jump-in and be more specific.. Richard

It does not have a bad EMI problem like some have had, I can run it hot and it will find targets as deep as I want to dig. The ground in areas where I hunt is real hard after you hit the 5" mark and I have to use a hammer and big screw driver to get the targets out, so after about 4 holes, I start looking for targets down to hard pay dirt. Where the F75 shines is lite enough to swing all day and super fast target response and seperation, plus fast adjustment with a thumb push and rotate a knob make it one sweet machine. I just need more time to hunt.

I've got one of the early LTD's and I very seldom have emi issues and I do a lot of city hunting and am able to run it hot. HH jim tn

I have the first out, anniversary edition, no boost. The default setting of disc was 10. I had to send it in last year for repair and it came back with default settings of 15. I called Fisher and the tech told me that they installed the newer program into it. The unit came back looking almost new. Seems like it runs quieter, I know somethings different,..hard to tell.

A lot of people put maximum importance on depth, but in reality depth should be third in order of importance.
Over the years of detecting the correct order (requirements for maximum depth) should be:

1. Target separation/ recovery speed
2. Unmasking abilities, which are directly related to #1
3. Now mention depth

If the machine fails to separate targets then depth never comes into play. Most locations where we hunt have many types of targets in the ground, some we want and some we do not want.
Case in point, a pull tab at 4" deep and a silver dime 2" from the tab at 4" deep.
Now if you swing over the tab first and your machine has a slower recovery speed the dime will not be heard.
Now if you swing over the dime first and the machine is slow in recover, you might get a mixed response that might not give an audio report good enough for you to stop and investigate the target.

The Fisher F75/LTD and Teknetic T2/LTD versions meet all three of the above requirements.

Now in the right location where the soil mineralization is mild, the above machines can excel over nearly all detectors on the market today.

These machines require experience and practice to acquire maximum results.
This post might be met with resistance, so if you have any more questions or need help, just shoot me a PM.

OK, a friend just got the latest version of this machine (the F75 special edition, LTD, or whatever you want to call it), and he made darn sure it was the latest version in both software and hardware. Hopefully this will help to clear up all of our confusion on all these endless software/hardware versions that seem to have come out over time in an attempt to fix EMI or mineralization issues.

He said the prior latest model he bought about a year ago or so seemed to have fixed the EMI issues with his prior units and he thought it was a fantastic machine, but just the same he wanted the latest and greatest model that is out now. These initial emails here might get a bit confusing, but if you scroll down to the last 2 or 3 emails he gets right to the point about just what this latest model he just bought a few weeks ago says in both hardware and software versions. I seperated the messages with a line to make them more clear...

All F75's work well........That is a fact.

#1.. Black and Gold Unit... Has Tones and Process modes. Does not have the extra Dp and cache modes.
This unit will hit dime size targets to 10" with ease. The processor is rapid fast recovery, and many thought it had Problems. NOT SO.. it just saw targets under the coil faster than any prior machine by any company. So it beeped a lot LOL

#2. Camo colored F75 LTD ... Added the two extra modes. All else worked the same. Did develope a few EMI Issues and pulsed a lot when near wires, Micro waves etc..... Hard to hunt schools with Puter outside antennas.. Lots of noise at average to high sens settings. Turned down to 40 or 45 hit dimes to 7" easily.

#3. All Black (SE) deemed special edition because it was a rerun of the Camo with revisions made in the software.Painted all Black. 500 made per some sources. This is when somewhere mid stream Processors were changed from one company to another by Fisher...
Revisions were made to smooth out the operation. Some worked, some didn't. Fisher had issues with bad coils and many were replaced.

Some claim Se is the better unit. I found the LE latest revision is best in our dirt. Yes the Le air tests a little lighter on inches from the coil for Target ID.. That said in the ground I have hit 12 " coins.. Far less EMI Issues in schools, and some other areas I have used the machine. I run about 85 sens and a little higher Disc than most do.

One issue I noticed.. F75 LTD LE Version does like old 1960's pulltabs and will almost always ID them as a coin when they are 7 8 inches in the ground. Nothing I have ever set changed this isssue. So I live with it..Always hoping it is a deep Barber..and sometimes it is..

F75 is not the perfect machine ..It is however a deep detector that has a light weight, and one can swing it for long periods.

For me it works, due to the weight..and still very deep recovery possibilities.

For me the weight is the big factor. I can swing it all day. I can swing the F75 as fast as I want and this even enhances the detectors depth. It's made to swing shoulder to shoulder at a rapid rate...

It takes time to get the most out of a F75, and one has to use it for a period of time to understand what it is doing as far as detecting coins.

F75's are good solid hunters that produce. For me they work best, and I like using them. Others do not like them. Only you will know when you try a 75 if it is for you....

The F75 original is black and Gold colored.

The next release was Camo LTD edition..about 500 made They say
Next was a Special edition run SE Some tweaks to the software and maybe a new processor supplier. All Black

Last edition is the LE 7A revision Turns on says LE check revision Hold button and press trigger forwaRD WHILE TURNING ON IT SAYS 7a....

Don't hold much stock in the versions. Small tweaks made by engineering as the machine progresses in it's evolment. SE and Le on versions seem to be the biggie as far as more or less EMI Machines.

(More info on the latest F75 he just bought a few weeks back...)

It says Special Edition on the arm cuff. That is arm cuffs in stock from SE Editions and all proir editions
At turn on it says LE that is the latest edition In the revision it says 7A..That is the latest software edition the rods, and body are all black...

Says F75 on the black 11 "coil and F75 on the 5" White round coil.

Trust me I have the latest edition I drove the dealer nuts making sure I got wat I wanted...

Make Fisher F75 LTD
Software version LE
Weight 3.5 LBS with 4 AA Batteries installed

11" DD Coil 11 9/16 long X 7.5 inches wide
5" DD coil ..Exactly 5" round

Machine has Boost Power Process & Cache Process included. Also has Discrmination, and All Metal Mode Plus a Static All Metal Mode for Relic Hunting deep large items 12" and deeper. Fastgrab Auto Ground Balance with Manual GB in All Metal if one desire to perfect GB for an exact area.........

End of his quotes, and of course the stuff in bold is probably the meat of what everybody wants to hear concerning the very latest hardware/software version.

Thanks critter! That is a plethora of information that is VERY useful. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this.

Thanks
