First, thanks for any info you can give me - i appreciate your taking time to respond as I am sure this has been covered here before. My detecting is done in saltwater up to chest deep and onto the wet sand areas. I try to stay off the beach because of all the trash there. I have an Excalibur which I really like, but know I am leaving a lot of good stuff. I have some "nulls" (iron type stuff), but not a lot - even on the beach. I dig all targets, except the "nulls" when using my other detectors. I would also like to use the machine for occassional gold prospecting trips which I do not currently do. Now the questions:
1. Can the Goldquest handle the chest deep water I sometimes hunt?
2. Can you, with a learning curve, determine an iron target with these detectors?
3. Do you have to sweep really slow?
4. Why would I want to pay 2 or 3 times the amount for an Aquastar or Goldquest?
5. I am looking to pick up the smaller and undetectable stuff (chains, necklaces, anklets, bracelets, etc.) as well as the normal items - will these machines do this?
6. Is there anything wierd about these machines that I should know?
7. If these detectors do what they claim, why would I need anyother water detectors?
Thanks for you help.
