Considering the ORX

IowaRelic

Well-known member
I’ve been hunting since 2013. Got a vaquero first. Then a couple more Tesoro’s. Then I got a t2se which is my main machine. I also picked up a g2 and omega 8000 to round out my F/T machines. I’ve since moved from the mild dirt of Iowa to the hotter sandier ground in south Alabama. After several tests, the t2se is the most capable machine I have for this soil, and that fits my hunting style. I’m a relic hunter first, coin hunter second. I have found new weaknesses in the t2 here. It’s lost some depth, more specifically, it’s calling deep high conductors as iron. I hate this. I’ve made some good finds here but am wondering what I’m missing. I was noticing that 3 ringers at 8-9” were getting pretty faint sounding but still good. I’m thinking of selling the GBP, the Omega and the vaquero with all their accessories to fund the purchase of an ORX with 9” HF coil. I love the audio and don’t need all the Deus settings I don’t think. The 2 coil Nox 600 pack is a smoking deal but I can not handle the Minelab sound. Much prefer sparky sounding machines. I have beach nearby which keeps it in mind for me.... hey, a guy could get the 600 and an ORX for the price of a Deus. What a great time to be a detectorist. Would the ORX be a logical upgrade for me from the t2se? Much more capable at depth? I love the t2 and will keep it, but it’s less effective beyond 8” on a quarter sized object. Larger coils don’t help much. I don’t have much money, but take detecting seriously and want to get the most out of my sites. Thanks for any help y’all.
