Continued my large area hunt

I have this 3 acre park area I have been doing for about 3-4 months now. It started giving up coins & jewelry early on so I decided to do it all. I have drawn a complete map of the site , including trees, light poles, fences ,etc so I can grid off sections as I do them. Here's my simple but good enough map. The left side sheet goes under the right side sheet in the actual layout. Don't know if you can make it out but I have the gold/silver items listed in red and have a red dot to show where they were found. With everything about done you can see the great concentration is in the center of things. Which is probably the natural way it happens.

I have been there about 7-8 times and have about 1-2 trips left . Today I dug 50 coins & a toy car. Don't ask about the square thing :) In the past I have dug about 600 coins, a gold cross, gold heavy necklace, 3 gold rings, gold bracelet, 2 silver bracelets and an English large cent, 1915.

And in all the hundreds of pennies I have yet to get a wheaty ! Why is this ? The place dates back to around the 50's I believe. Almost all the coins are deep and cruddy, no silver coins yet either. But with all the jewelry it makes it worthwhile. Heres the take for this morning - 2 1/2 hours - not a lot but you have to keep in mind all the gold & silver that has come out of here.

Just wanted to post this to encourage others who might come across a big area that at first looks overwhelming. Do it a little at a time, there's no hurry. And I am cleaning a tremendous amount of metal junk & glass out as I go. Steve in so az

looks good, best way of gettin it done sometimes

Your Tootsie Toy looks like the one Lee found.
Nice way to keep track of where the finds come from.

I should do likewise with the ball field. I really have to talk with the guy who told me about the ball field (he played there as a kid) and see if I can get a map of it as he remembers it as a kid. I think there was a house there even before the ball field became the ball field.

Thanks Steve for the map diagram tip.

Steve--Looks like the ball fields we have been searching the past week or two. Have covered most of it but still some area to do. Have pulled alot of later date clads out of there, with only one wheatie so far. Found one piece of jewlry, but at the west end of this site, there used to be an old flour mill, dating to the late 1800's. This area still is used extensively, so it is worthwhile. Like your map. They help to remember exactly the area you have covered, but I went back over an area yesterday, and found more I had missed last week.

I cannot even dream of digging all signals in the parks in my town, I tried it once on just a small section and simply did not have the patience, there is a pulltab in every swing, no joke

It is encouraging to see someone else stick to it even if the wheaties and old silver are popping up. i also dig every signal and get my fair share of tabs, junk and memorials. Thanks for sharing and encouraging.
