Converting a 5900 or Blue and Gray to AA Batteries???

Tony in Ohio

New member
Has anyone converted a Whites 5900 or a Blue and Gray over to accept AA batteries instead of c cells?
I was just curious if it could be done since the newer machines which appear to be the same use AAs.
Wonder if it would affect the performance any.
Thanks for any info.

...The gentleman that was selling his 6000 had converted the C-cell battery pack to accept "AA" batteries. He had taken the + / - leads for the c-cell configuration and clipped them off and soldered them to two leads that would connect to a 4-cell AA holder. He used the 9-volt clip and then that clip would connect to the AA battery pack. He then inserted the AA holder into the regular c-cell holder and put foam into the holder to cushion the AA pack.

That is all I have ever seen for a conversion process. I had asked a question here a while ago about any known modifications for the 5900 and got the same response as you did to your question up to now......none!!!

Even if you were to modify the battery holder to accept AA's you will still have to go with 4 AA's. You would not be able to add additional AA batteries. I don't believe the power circuitry on the 5900 would be able to accept the increase in voltage if that was what you were thinking of doing.
