I found out last night, that if you have google-earth. You can Superimpose old maps on top of if to see what is still there, or not there! Its pretty cool.
Download javascript:earth.downloadEarth(); at http://earth.google.com/
then find you favorite old maps like from here http://www.libs.uga.edu/darchive/hargrett/maps/maps.html
Ope google earth, go to ADD, image overlay, find your old map. And bam, easy peasy.
